Secretary Symposia National Conference 2011 - Celebrating Administrative Brilliancy

Secretary, Office Administrator and PA needs to sharpen their saw and that's what the above mentioned conference is about.

Here's some highlight of this year Conference:
- How to Think Like your Boss
- Wake up to Dazzle
- Managing Your Role to Finish Well
- Do you have a Perfect Match?
- Gorgeous, Sexy and Rich (Money for Women in Good and Tough times)
- You are more Beautiful than you think
- 8 ideas to Boost your Career
- It's All About You!

Had a great time with their activity, and looking at the crowd of 380 delegates and most of them are not their first year in the yearly conference, I would say that they are the preferable sought after training provider for Secretarial conference in Kuala Lumpur. Held at Seri Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on 27-28th April 2011.

My personal rating:

a) The crowd is just too large and those who are seated in the corner are less attentive too.
b) The conference is great for HR networking as you can meet a number of lovely secretaries.
c) The topics here are very general if you compared to a more precise workshop. Here, you will probably have fun singing or dancing rather than focusing on the topics so much.

Apart from my lil' drawback, I am really delighted to be one of the "Ms. Winning Smile 2011" - 2nd runner up among 380 delegates. Got myself a SunGlass, love it as hasn't got one.

Being a leader to a small group of new fun friends has made a great 2 days too. Had so much laughter and appreciate the friendship very much.

Whats excite me more is one of them approach me asking whether I am in a magazine years back and ask how is Jaden? (That must be Parenthood 2008), I was like "Wow" but keep it humble. Never know someone remembers.

Back to conference, I still love the image workshop given by Sheila Wong @ SWET Advancement Centre Sdn. Bhd.
The best workshop and yes, you will give away your crocs shoe and it will transform your being. Love you Sheila and I do not mind going to your workshop with another crocs knowing that I will be secured with more of your valuable and powerful comments. ;)

Mummy - learn from our mistakes

Jaden has inspired me with lots of thing especially in our daily life. As I was driving both of them to caretakers, we pass the guard house and every morning without fail the guard would say "Good Morning , Madam, have a nice day!" and repeat with "Good morning baby! How are you? or Have a nice day, baby!". His daily greeting makes a lovely day.

Having repeatedly say my mum is a nag, I didn't realized I always ask Jaden the same question. "Jaden, why didn't you say good morning Uncle" or "say hello?" - No manners you know, when someone greets you you must greet them back.

He is silent and kept quiet. "Reply mummy please, ok?" "Jaden??"

"Mummy, the window is close, cannot see uncle"

I gulped and stoned a second before continuing with "Oh, I am sorry, you mean you can't see uncle thats why you didn't say Good Morning?" "Alright, I will open the window next time for you, ok? and he replied OK.

I am blushed. and he really surprised me, I understate him. But it was hilarious and told hubby that this guy is just too smart. I should change too, I think I am a little nagger these days.. LOL.

Tea Talk - How to improve intimacy in your relationship

Thanks to my mum again for looking after our lil monster and off we go, the four of us - me, hub, sis, Jack to this so-called 3 hours tea talk from Great Eastern. ;) 1.30pm-4.30pm is the agenda on the print, but 2.45 to start it out and ended 5.30 is a bit tiring.

We have book earlier through phone, be there and paid RM5 per person, and we enjoyed a fruitful talk, goody bag, samples and lucky draw!

Where is This?

Great Eastern Hall,
Level 6, Menara Great Eastern.
GPS coordinate 101.736842, 3.160160

It features USA-licensed family therapist Dr Johnben Loy, famous funny man Douglas Lim, and self defense master Sonny Loke. The talk is about how partners should communicate effectively for better relationship, and how sex and money does play a role in a relationship, how to listen and talk effectively.

Dr Johnben Loy have the similar content with the marriage course that I attended but have more theory. But sad that there is some error in the video, thus it was a bit bored.

I personally enjoyed laughing to the funny story from Dauglas Lim, especially with his rabbit story, how true! I am also inspired with the showcase and steps of simple self defense by Sonny Loke and his team - group of people from Aikido Dojo

We are lucky that day, Jack has got a huge bottle of Evening primrose oil - that will be my sis belongings, and I got a Gintell eye massager with a GE tote bag. Ahh... Am so so happy, well worth for a RM5 and the wait. ;)

Encouraging child to Read & Learn

Its never too young to start to read early. Jaden has been going to playgroup since he was two and he can speaks well, and I think he is now ready to read and to enrol him into preschool. He has been showing the interest in grabbing books, asking me to read to him, asking, why, who, where... and has just recently learn how to role play, he is the teacher and teach us to sing too.

I have bought lots of books, inclusive peter and jane, alphabets, letters, and now exposing him to various self printed flash cards. Flash card are varies from animal and their babies, pictionary to built his vocabulary, planets name and life cycle of animals and insects, and we tell story based on the lifecycle. By reading to him, and he reads back, it helps and you will be surprise on how much he learnt. I have also flashcard which i printed out "YELLOW" in bold yellow font, so that he will know "Y.E.L.L.O.W" stand for yellow.

We also visited the "Dino Alive" show in National Science Centre last week, and he can picture what he has read about the planets, and on life cycles. And he actually amaze on how huge is the dinasaur in the centre. With this, he could tell us stories and have more interest with his books than just merely telling him to read blankly.

Parents can search kindergarten materials from KMode Marketing in Puchong for flash card and USL in Subang for its lovely quality flashcard holder. I have also bought some sentence making flashcards and letters, so that I could combine them and make into words for his reading. By seeing lots more of these combination, he can then built more fun words and will assist him in reading.

Reward chart are useful too, parent could try to reward them if they have read well, by giving simple encouragement, like hugs, movie out, play outdoor etc.

This is how I think children should learn - in a fun manners. ;)

She ain't got any Clutch bag, I regard her as the perfect discount catcher,
She ain't the best cook, but she always serve's my best yong tau foo,
She ain't best granny, but she will take care of my babies when we want to go retreat,
She ain't no superwoman, she is just my ever lovely mother who deserves a "SLICE OF HEAVEN"
Happy Mother's Day, Mum. Thank you will not be enough said. Stories will not be enough told, but you will be treasured and being yourself will leave a legend to us in times to come and forever more....

William Syndrome in Malaysia

My baby girl has been diagnosed with William Syndrome when she is 7.5 months, and now she is approaching 22 months. It has not been an easy journey knowing her condition, and there is lots worries and fears and yes, I can't deny that we actually worries until to the extend of finding suitable school for her when she is 7 years old.
Yesterday night is a leap of progress and family's leap of excitement, my baby can now walk holding her one hand. God hears my prayer and I am too ecstatic and start to sms relative and friends who concerned. I really can't wait to see her walk all these while and she did it.... tears of happiness indeed. ;)

Her achievement wasn't a one day success. To all the mothers out there with special children, I heard you and we need to be patient. My girl has gone to many doctors, midwife, physio therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, audiologist, cardiologist, genetist, clinics after clinics and hospitals. Not forgetting the support from family members and friends and society is fairly important to provide us with strength and confidence in handling our children.

I am glad we had to know of her condition early and work it out. What is William Syndrome? From Wikipedia, "is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder caused by a deletion of about 26 genes from the long arm of chromosome 7.[1] It is characterized by a distinctive, "elfin" facial appearance, along with a low nasal bridge; an unusually cheerful demeanor and ease with strangers; developmental delay coupled with strong language skills; and cardiovascular problems, such as supravalvular aortic stenosis and transient hypercalcaemia."

Malaysia has got our first "Child Development Centre" in HUKM, Cheras and they are equipped with specialist for special children. You may be flooded with lots of doctors appointment initially but you will go along with the flows once you see progressive milestone in your child. We have limited support for William Syndrome in the country, and I think parents contact will be the source of support and encouragement to bring up a William Syndrome Child.

Thus, we should not give up, and I am confident to say that you will see the fun, loving character in your special children, just like me. My son always have fun with his sister, as they imitating each other and at times she actually taught him how to be brave. I am always more than happy to support if you need some sharing in William Syndrome.

I had this article featured at PARENTHOTS @ THE STAR

I am thankful that they are associations and supporting parent who come forward and share their thoughts and assistance.
