Dinner Roll Recipe

Check out this recipe for Dinner Roll and have fun with our kids. I have tried and its yummy.

These soft, delicious dinner rolls are ready in one hour from prep to serving. That's really not long when considering how long yeast breads usually take to rise, knead, shape, rise again. (I don't bake yeast breads for that reason. I don't have the time or the patience.)

This recipe doesn't involve any extra work in the kitchen. I followed the idea of the recipe from Betty Crocker for soft bread sticks. It's simple to throw together and your family will feel so special that you made them.

HERE'S ALL YOU HAVE TO DO
1 package quick-acting active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons) ( 7 grams)
1 1/3 cup milk (105º to 115ºF degrees)
3 to 3 1/2 cups flour or whole wheat flour
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon melted butter
coarse salt
Dissolve yeast in warm milk with sugar in electric mixer bowl. Stir in 1 cup flour, oil, and salt. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour, scraping dough from side of bowl, until soft dough forms. Cover and let rise in warm place until double, about 45 minutes.

Heat oven 400ºF degrees. Prep a 12 cup muffin pan with non-stick cooking spray.

Punch down dough in center and fold over a few times. Pinch off 1 inch balls of dough and quickly roll in palm of hands. Put 3 balls to one muffin cup; brush with melted butter; sprinkle with coarse salt.

Bake 12 to 15 minutes, until crust is light golden brown. Immediately remove from pan. Store loosely covered.

William Syndrome walks at 26 months

Hurray! only God knows, but I think everyone close to me know I am the happiest mummy on earth to see April finally got the courage to walk more than 10 steps yesterday. Its really a joyous moment I would remember the rest of my life. Going to Genting Highland and eating her strawberries the other day perhaps do the trick. Probably she got back her confidence by walking on the bed, so falling down is not a drama anymore.

Aiyin - one of my beloved blog mummy once told me the earlier William Syndrome child walks at 5 years old. That makes me even jumping for joy to witness April's achievement. A credit must be given to the children of April's nanny too. 4 of them has been very encouraging to her and its really better than the physio that we went at HUKM. In HUKM, we get the ideas, but most important is the practise, and I felt really really blessed.

Now I am hoping she will do good with shoes too, but I will let her takes her time. I learnt the lesson from her earlier 3-7 steps walking experience, we got too instense with her, as we got too excited, and that loses her confidence in walking, stopped for 2 months and now, Hurray, she is back on foot again. This round, we will just wait and see. :D

Seven Things You Should Never Say to Your Toddler

Here is one article that is shared from my sister. I find it really true, and useful when you are having two kiddos at home. ;)

Don’t cry
Toddlers will cry when they are upset, hungry, angry, frustrated, sad. When they feel discomfort and unable to voice out, they will communicate their feelings and need the way they know how. Try saying “You are crying because you are ...” or “You need my help in ...” It is more comforting to a toddler when you are understanding and supportive rather than condescending.

Are you ready to go?
Toddlers do not keep time like adults do. They need time to prepare for making transitions. Prior to the scheduled time for leaving, inform your toddler what will happen in a few minutes time.

Help her to pack up to get ready. When it is time to leave, say to your child: “You are all ready to leave and go home. I am so glad we are all set.”

Why do you keep doing this? I have told you so many times ...
Toddlers are naturally impulsive. They do what they like and when they like it. They like repetition. They live for the present. Say: “Remember we keep our floors dry. Stop splashing water or you will have to leave this area. Wet floors are dangerous. You can get hurt when the floors are wet.” Always repeat what is important so that your toddler can do it correctly.

Share your toys with your friend.
The concept of ownership is clear to the child but not with sharing. They are still new to this social behaviour. Sharing for toddlers really mean “I am giving away to you.”

It is best to say to your toddler “Your friend likes to play with your toys. You can play with your toys and he can also play with your toys.

Stop jumping around and be quiet.
Toddlers are active. It is practically impossible to stop being their natural selves. When the noise level gets intolerable, work out a plan that your toddler is comfortable with like “You can jump for five minutes and after that, we can read a book together.”

You cannot take without asking first. Say “please”.
Manners are learned over time. As they are older, they will start to use more social graces. Toddlers fare better with positive statements such as “Smile and say “May I?”

You cannot touch this.
When you say this to your toddler, he receives a very different message. He hears only two words “touch this”. He will do exactly that and play with it. If there is something you do not want your toddler to get his hands on, remove it from his sight or distract him to do something else.

www.rwgenting.com & Strawberry Farm at Genting Highland

It has been a fruitful days Uphill in Genting Highland last weekend. Despite the drizzling rain on the first day, I guess the kids enjoy indoor and outdoor too.

A credit to be given to hubby for his patient despite busy with his work email, and the kids for their good behavior during the 3 days.

Why do I say its a fruitful trip? Hubby got his day out, away from the city and plays like a teenage boy giving himself ample rides on the thrills, bumper cars, 4D show and blah blah blah. While the kids astonished me - Jaden conquered his fear by riding the horse, go to 8 times of train ride by himself, and got both of us dizzy riding the cup with April. Its so dizzy for us, that we felt like throwing out but oh.. the kids, they enjoyed it and ask us to spin it fast. That is the generation gap. Couldn't help it but we are really a little too wise for the ride. LOL.

Will chip in more when I am free for Genting trip.

Meanwhile on the 3rd day, it was sunny and cool and we are heading to Strawberry Farm. Its a flash back of Cameron Highland where we had April made there. Sounds funny, but we are bringing April there to find her lost chromosome. ;P

She dressed up like a strawberry that day, hubby claimed. She loves the strawberry, the way she eat, its just so satisfying, but to us its a little sour, but sweeter than the one in Cameron - my personal opinion.

While Jaden had been busy plucking strawberry and keep saying mummy, where is the basket? I want to pluck strawberry. He did it himself and really happy and proud with his strawberries.

Its worth to check out the Strawberry Farm in Genting Highland, big and cosy strawberry cafe, huge souvenir area, vegetable and plants, strawberry and even honeys. Worth a trip with the kids to expose them to nature, plants and an experience to pluck their own strawberry - an hour drive from Kuala Lumpur is definitely a better choice compare to Cameron Highland - what would you think?

Give it a go! The farm is just next to the condo at Gohtong Jaya town. Ample car park at Gohtong sport centre and it’s a free parking.

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park @ Lake Garden with Family

It has been a great day hanging out as a family at KL Bird Park last Sunday. Family has 3 kiddo's now and definitely make everyone busy with them. Mummy intention of cooking lunch is getting alright, mee hoon served, hotdog done, papaya cut, and water is all packed. There's additional clothing for kiddos. Daddy prepares the cameras. We got all bathed, dressed up and 2 strollers, kids bottles, kids snacks, caps.. and it got the car fulled. It has been really hectic just preparing the things, nevertheless it turns out fun. But silly mummy left April's shoe in the car, only realised that when we had walked half the park. ;P

KL Bird Park, also known as the World's LARGEST Free-flight Walk in Aviary is definetely a spot you shouldn't miss while visiting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Its recommended especially if you bring your kids. We saw lots of egrets and peacocks everywhere. They walk freely in the park at one large sections and while feeding them breads, they would even follow you around, you could witness them fly in front of you, looking for food, and the next thing you know you are surrounded by more than 20 of them. It was fun being in their habitat. Kids love to see them too.

If you do bring your own food, do try to have it at Hornbill restaurant's lowest floor, as I think its the only clean sheltered area without bird drop. ;P. There is some resting benches and sheltered area but its full of bird drops and birds are everywhere looking for food.

Jaden loves the Chicks NURSERY area and it was awesome witnessing the chicks comes out from the eggshell, and there are chicks there for us to touch and see.

We are busy photographing and looking after kids, but definitely we have seen lots of parrots, flamingo, hornbill, and lots of other feathered friends.

To see to Believe!
