Mustela Stelatopia® Intense cream calms the eczema flare-ups

When it comes to sensitive and eczema prone skin, I would think of Mustela cream. Eczema could happen in babies and even adult due to environment, individual skin condition and parents and care takers like us find it challenging.

I love Mustela Stelatopia® Intense cream as its part of a topical symptomatic treatment that helps reduce the symptoms of eczema by relief of skin redness and itchiness, by relieves and calms irritated and damaged skin. It’s suitable for infants, children and even adults.

Mustela Stelatopia® Intense cream contains Ectoin® which helps reduce inflammatory reactions and supports the skin's regeneration process. It calms the eczema flare-ups of all family members.

I use it on my skin and daughter skin for a month now and my eczema due to my frequent expose to dishwashing liquid has improved a lot. Best is its non-greasy texture is absorbed quickly, Fragrance-free, cortisone-free, preservative-free, paraben-free and this cream contains 93% of ingredients of natural origin.

Training my resistance with the hottest spin bike in town!

Lifestyle changes and excuses of too busy or no time has defer us to get our self moving and start exercising. Yes it takes initiative to go to fitness gym and I would take into account the transportation time to the gym, parking fees and whether I would be that discipline to go every week etc. My long term goal is to achieve the fitness of some instagram fitness beauty like Krissy Cela, Melissa Alcantara or Katie Sonier. Haha.

H925 Duke Magnetic Spin Bike - best biomechanics for cardiovascular training.

I recently tried the new H925 Duke Magnetic Spin Bike at home and it was awesome. Check out my details review in you tube too : https://youtu.be/_b8HfeiIARI

What's the benefit of spin bike at home?

a) Warm-up exercise before any sports.
b) Not only I can manage the  exercise time myself, it gives me the flexibility on timing
c) It is a great way to improve your technique.
d) A regular exercise to get myself fit.
e) Cycling is a great way to increase bone density among children and elderly people too.

The machine is not that heavy physically as it comes with a back roller that made it easily to move around the house. Underneath with an anti slip mat provided.

There are 16 levels selector and using this I can steadily train up my resistance.

There is a sweat cover which function as in the picture below. It ensure the sweat from our exercise drips to this sweat cover instead of to the floor or to the bike frame. Well, although the frame has a anti-corrosion layer, its always good to keep the equipment clean. Since its washable, its hygienic too.

The saddle is comfortable with thick padding and is adjustable horizontally and vertical which makes it easily adjustable to our height. It also features a nice middle cutout for comfort.

On outlook, I like it's high tech look with a big aluminium made flywheel. This spin bike is using the magnetic break system and also aluminium flywheel which give the spin bike lighter, smoother and noise free riding experience. It is very quiet and emits very light sound when we started cycling and a plus point as we can even do exercise at night without disturbing other family member.

The handle has a different functions depends on the mode of cycling. This bike is very similar to road bike and well I would think it's a good training before I join any upcoming cycling tour, car free day or leisure cycling. I would be showing to you in the video on the first relax or uphill mode (the normal cycle), sprint mode (where you hold the outer handle and cycle standing) and if you are on triathlon mode, you could hold it like the picture below to experience riding a TT bike.

The pedals come with shoe cover and clip shoe for serious cycle like we did with our road bike. I have to wear sport shoes as spin bike allow the rider to stand and ride, and having the sharp spiky pedals give it a grip.

The Bottle holder makes it convenient for instant hydrating, need not stop in between for continuity.

Every customer who purchase an equipment from BH Fitness,  you would have access to free online video on all training available to guide you on the usage,  warm ups and different set of exercise.

I had tried the access to BH fitness academy https://www.bhfitness.com.my/fitness-academy.php and here is the highlight:

a) By login in with the product serial number, we have access to all the training exercise
b) Very interactive video showing a step by step on how we can maximise the exercise with our machine from BH.
c) Achievement notice when we accomplished the exercise..

I do think the free online courses is important as it gives a clear insight on how we could start warming up using the machine, flow with a warm up cycle, intense workout and following through a proper series of workout rather than doing it blindly without a guide.

Give yourself a workout today. Mummy like us do need to care for our well being to stay strong.

Don't get trap by Bubble tea and learn to eat like a Pro with Chan Peng Soon and Goo Chui Hoong

We are always on temptation when it comes to the recent bubble tea craze but do you know it contains 20 teaspoon sugar each cup? Recently we are at a half day workshop conducted by Beko and Ampang Jaya Badminton club and getting some tips from Chan Peng Soon (Olympic badminton silver medallist) how to eat like a pro. He encourage and inspire children in eating right and live healthy.

Chan Peng Soon sharing his own eating habits at Kepong Badminton Academy, his approach to diet and provide us with Olympic level badminton tips and tricks. He encourage his athletes to play a more pro-active role in inspiring the next generation to eat and live healthy. Using the new Beko vacuum Blender, he shows us how to make a delicious green drinks that taste good.

We may not realised that childhood obesity is a real threat with reports estimating over 70 million obese children around the world by 2025. Beko, with the support from partners FC Barcelona, the Barca Foundation and UNICEF, carried out a worldwide survey in 18 different countries across 13500 children between 6-10 years old to gauge children awareness on sports and healthy living. 70 % kids knew more about sports than healthy eating, of which 80% children states that they would eat healthier food if they knew their favourite heroes did too. Hence the Eat Like A Pro initiative by Beko to address obesity issue and to encourage children to have a healthy diet.

We met Ms Goo Chui Hoong, a consultant dietician too as she give some tips on how we can incorporate healthy food options into our daily diet and how to make healthy eating more appealing to children. Check out some of her sharing about sugar contents in these drinks, even juices in bottle or cans contains so much sugar and not healthy as it prescribed.

My Lil model has not had enough of the yummy drinks looking at the way she hug the blender jug. 😂😂😂
It's a refreshing juice indeed on a hot day. Beko new vacuum Blender maintain its juice freshness in the vacuum jar so that greens and apples doesn't oxidize so fast and turns colour. She is enjoying herself indeed with her drinks while we are busy getting some tips from dietician on how to eat right.

Klinik 1Malaysia, an initiative by DBKL

Klinik 1Malaysia I Do you know we have Klinik 1Malaysia in our country? Many of us worried of cost of medical and some is sceptical on the service that is made available.

There is a period of time when I am not employed and I came across a Klinik 1Malaysia at Kampung Muhibbah, located in Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur in OUG. To me, it’s a wonderful experience and since then I would never think twice to come whenever I am sick and if the children had common illness like flu, cough, fever, and sore throat.
They have a proper registration counter and you will need to bring your NRIC along for verification each time. You will be charged at RM1 for each visit, and if you are an OKU card holder just like my daughter, you can enjoy a free visit without any payment.

Depends to area, normally the waiting hour is bearable, even better than private clinics, especially paediatrics.

The doctors are very well mannered, and they will take time to examine, explaining to you in details on what you should do and not, prescribed with enough medicine for a week.

Further to that, please do note too on the below:
A) Klinik 1Malaysia is for mild treatment, which I will explain in their scope of services at the bottom of this article.

B) Klinik kesihatan Is a bigger clinic that accepts mild critical condition or referral/ follow up cases

C) Hospital Is meant for critical Illness

It Is advisable to ensure that you are at the correct places to enable one had their Illness being treated at the spot. This Is to avoid trouble of ending at the wrong place, especially when we are dealing with Injuries that Involves one's life.

For your convenience, here is the full list of klinik 1Malaysia, an initiative by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL):  http://www.moh.gov.my/index.php/database_stores/store_view/33

Their usual opening hour:

The objective of Klinik 1Malaysia is to provide medical services to the people who are less affordable.

The scope of service does not limit to:

-          Providing light medical service for fever, cough, flu and others mild illness that can be treated by simple medical prescription over the counter.

-          A follow up of chronic diseases that is stable and controllable such as diabetic, high blood pressure, and asthma

-          Cleaning of wound and opening stitches.

-          Giving notice or referral letter to hospital with regards to contagious illness like dengue fever

-          Consultation of health-related issue

-          HIV Support program at some Klinik 1Malaysia outlets

To know more, you may find it at this link below:

Hope the above benefits all and do not hesitate to pay them a visit when you are not well. We hope that DBKL could continue with this great initiative so that the poor can benefit from it and any sickness can be treated fast without having to worry on medical expenses.

Do share with your friends and love ones! You may not know someone will benefit from it anytime of the day.

Stay Healthy!

Ministry of Health Exclusive Breastfeeding Campaign

Ministry of Health Exclusive Breastfeeding Campaign
There has been lots of Public Awareness Campaign to encourage moms to breastfeed their child for 6 months EXCLUSIVELY. Parents are now more rely on public forum and social media for advices and justification of old myth, which I find it has benefit the new generation as a whole.

Breast milk is good for baby because:-

1. Breast milk Builds natural antibodies for the child
2. Breast milk Reduces risks of baby getting diarrhoea, respiratory infections, allergy and a lot more
3. Breast milk Encourages brain development

Breastfeeding is good for mommies because:-

1. Breastfeeding Reduces chances of getting breast cancer
2. Breastfeeding Burns calories (up to 600 calories per day)
3. Breastfeeding Mothers has fewer problems with weight
4.
Breastfeeding Mothers has better healing postdelivery
5. Breastfeeding Helps mother uterus return to its normal size more quickly—at about six weeks postpartum, compared with 10 weeks if you don’t breastfeed.
6. Breastfeeding Has Less risk of cancer
Breastfeeding can decrease your baby’s risk of some childhood cancers. And you’ll have a lower risk of postmenopausal breast cancer and ovarian cancer, an often deadly disease that’s on the rise.

Ministry of Health Malaysia has had brochures circulated around, and aims to encourage mother to breastfeed exclusively for 6 month in order for the child and mother to lead a healthy life.

I had personally experience breastfeeding for both of my kids and am encouraging other mummies to do the same.
There are moments of frustrations – baby not able to latch, worries baby may not get enough liquids, worries they are hungry, stress of getting up to breastfeed, breastfeeding thoughts are not shared and accepted well by family members and the list goes on.

Do not fret as it happens to all mummies, especially first timer. If you have problem having baby to latch on in a correct manner, or sore nipples, you can option for pump out. It’s equally beneficial and you can even continue while you are back to work.

Only one advice, do let baby latch on as frequent and whenever you are available. Breast milk is associated with demand and supply, the more you pump and let baby latch direct, the more your body will produce.

Do get enough rest, plenty of drinks, soup, liquids, and eat more nutritional food.
You are not alone, should you want to seek more info, do visit the webpage and there are SMS assistance as well.

30 Days to Happy Kidneys Challenge @ Sunway Medical Centre highlighting kidney-related diabetes complications

Sunway Medical Centre marks World Diabetes Day for fourth consecutive year
Themed Eliminate Diabetes, this year’s event highlights
kidney-related diabetes complications

From Left Clockwise: Ms Nadiah Wan, Organising Chairperson, Eliminate Diabetes and
Director of Communications and Business Development, Sunway Medical Centre,

Mr Chua Hong Wee, Chief Executive Officer, National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia, Dr Balachandran Satiamurti, Selangor State Health Director, Mr Choo Voon Chee, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Sunway Medical Centre, me and Miera Nadhirah, one of my blogging mentor.

BANDAR SUNWAY, 14 November 2015 – Sunway Medical Centre (SunMed) today celebrated World Diabetes Day for the fourth year running, as part of its five-year focus on creating diabetes awareness. The celebration, themed Eliminate Diabetes, was officiated by Dr Balachandran Satiamurti, Selangor State Health Director, accompanied by Choo Voon Chee, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Medical Centre and Chua Hong Wee, Chief Executive Officer of the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia.

Launching the event ;) With darling Effy
This year’s celebration is part of the Let’s Take 5 umbrella campaign launched in 2012, which focuses on one of five organs or body parts affected by diabetes complications - brain, eyes, heart, kidneys, and foot, in conjunction with World Diabetes Day each year. This year, the campaign themed Eliminate Diabetes focused on diabetes-related kidney failure and sees the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF) coming on as a partner.

By celebrating World Diabetes Day, SunMed aims to raise awareness, educate and empower people to take control of diabetes. In line with the international aims of the celebration, SunMed is spreading awareness on the prevention and management of diabetes and its complications, including sharing information on the warning signs of diabetes, encouraging early diagnosis, and promoting healthy lifestyles to reduce the risks of type II diabetes.

“Sunway Medical Centre believes in contributing to public health by raising awareness on diseases affecting the people, and our World Diabetes Day celebrations and campaigns since 2012 are some of our initiatives. There are still many undiagnosed diabetics among Malaysians. With the overall number of diabetics set to rise, we need to increase diagnosis and management of diabetes, plus encourage preventive measures to reduce risk of the disease. Meanwhile, patients with related complications such as kidney failure have also increased. With the 30 Days to Happy Kidneys campaign launched last month, we are raising awareness and at the same time raising funds in aid of NKF,” said Choo Voon Chee, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Sunway Medical Centre.

In Malaysia, the International Diabetes Federation estimates* that 3.2m people** live with diabetes and approximately 50% of them remain undiagnosed, with the total number of diabetics expected to rise by another 50% by 2035. Many diabetics end up with kidney failure, with statistics showing that approximately 60% of kidney failure patients in Malaysia are diabetic – one of the highest ratios in the world. Over 5,000 new kidney failure cases are diagnosed every year.

“With the continuous increase in the number of kidney failure patients and the increasing cost of operations, we appreciate organisations such as Sunway Medical Centre coming forward to raise funds to benefit NKF. We help over 1,600 patients annually and spend close to RM15 million a year subsidising dialysis, while the total operational costs are approximately RM30 million a year, including running 27 centres nationwide, expenses for public education programmes, welfare contributions for hardcore poor patients and their children, professional training for personnel, transportation for patients, and replacement of equipment. Close to 60% of NKF patients are hardcore poor with household disposable
income of less than RM800 per month, while the other patients also fall into the low-income category,” said Chua Hong Wee, Chief Executive Officer of the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia.

To mark World Diabetes Day, SunMed has held a series of roadshows around the Klang Valley and Penang, with the Main Roadshow held at Sunway Pyramid from 13 to 15 November 2015. At the roadshows, members of the public can get free health screenings, play interactive games and receive attractive freebies. At the Main Roadshow, there will also be a colouring contest and fashion contest for children with cash prizes and hampers up for grabs.

The campaign aims to encourage kidney-healthy practices by providing a 30-day calendar of different activities, encourage spreading the word on kidney health through an Instagram contest, and raise funds for NKF by making the calendar cum pledge card available with a minimum RM11 donation. SunMed is also matching the total amount donated by the public for a joint donation to NKF.

·      a Diabetic Dialysis Patients’ Day that shares information on the importance of keeping blood glucose in control even while undergoing dialysis as well as tips and motivational advice on how to stay on course for both the patient and their caregivers.

·      a series of Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) programmes for diabetics and their caregivers, to educate diabetes patients and facilitate the knowledge, skill and ability necessary for diabetes self-care.

·      A talk for general practitioners on wound care and management. The talk will also coincide with the announcement of the winners for Fit2Climb Challenge.

I made my pledge.. How about you? Do join us!

The 30 Days to Happy Kidneys fundraising campaign is running until 17 January 2016. Sunway Medical Centre targets to raise RM50,000 from the public, in order to channel a total donation of RM100,000 to NKF.
